What you can build

Design forms people finish

Most abandoned forms are not hard, they are unclear. Choose the order of fields, group them into steps and write labels that leave no doubt.

  • Responsive layout that reads well on phones and desktops
  • Clear labels and helpful error messages next to the field
  • Grouped steps with a progress bar, available from the Starter plan at 49 USD per month
  • Consistent spacing and readable type

Practical design choices

A few decisions make the biggest difference:

  • Put the easy questions first. Name and email feel quick, and people who have started tend to continue.
  • Use a choice field instead of free text when the answers are known, such as "Service type" with four options.
  • Ask for a date with a date field, so nobody has to guess whether you want 3/4 or 4/3.
  • Mark only the truly necessary fields as required.
  • Keep error messages specific, such as "Enter a phone number with area code" instead of "Invalid input".

How it works

Design in the editor

Arrange fields visually and preview the form on a phone and a desktop before you publish. If you would rather begin with a draft, describe the form and the generator produces one that you then reshape.

Split long forms into steps

A thirty field form on one page looks like work. The same fields in five steps, each with a short title like "Your details" or "Project scope", feel manageable. The progress bar tells people how far along they are. Steps can also be skipped by a rule, so someone who answers "No" to "Do you need delivery?" never sees the delivery address step.

Show only what applies

Conditional logic keeps forms short for each person. A field appears only when an earlier answer makes it relevant, a step is skipped when it does not apply and a price changes when a choice does. Rules are written as a condition and an effect, for example "if Event type is Wedding, show Number of guests". Add them with the conditional logic form builder.

Why FormsBuilder

Design that supports the process

A form should be easy to fill in and easy to process. The choices you make while designing it decide what lands in your inbox, so a well labeled form saves time later.

Design for the next step

Think about what happens after submission. If the data goes to a reviewer, add an approval step so the decision is saved. If you need a signed record, add a signature field and keep the PDF copy. If money changes hands, add a payment step so the submission is stored only after payment is confirmed. These need the Plus plan at 149 USD per month.

A short review checklist

Before publishing, open the form on your phone and fill it in from start to finish. Check that every label makes sense without context, that every required field is justified and that the confirmation message tells people what happens next. Embed the form on your site with a snippet, or share the link, then read the first few submissions to see where people hesitate.

If your forms are growing in number, see which plan fits on the features page.
